Central Group Joins Forces with Business Partners, BMA, and TAT to Reinforce Confidence in Bangkok as a Safe City, Ready to Welcome Tourists from Around the World

Central Group, together with business operators from the key economic districts in central Bangkok—including Ratchaprasong, Chidlom, Phloen Chit, and Sukhumvit Road - has announced a collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to launch the "Bangkok We are OK!" campaign. The initiative aims to reinforce public confidence in the structural safety of buildings across the city and elevate Bangkok’s image as a world-class travel destination, welcoming tourists and investors from all corners of the globe.
Following recent earthquake tremors, while the situation has largely returned to normal, concerns remain among tourists and investors regarding the structural integrity of urban buildings. As the first private sector entity to support this campaign, Central Group has proactively conducted thorough inspections of its buildings and is encouraging its partners in neighboring areas to join in raising safety standards in a tangible way. This effort exemplifies the power of collaboration between the public and private sectors in building a city that people can genuinely trust.
Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, stated that the “Bangkok We are OK!” campaign was initiated from the belief that a livable city must be safe for everyone, and cooperation from all sectors is key to achieving this. He expressed his appreciation to Central Group, all participating businesses, and private sector partners for their sincere cooperation in inspecting and assessing buildings according to established standards and procedures. The results are reported transparently through the centralized Building Inspection Dashboard, ensuring accountability. This partnership aims to raise Bangkok’s safety standards in a concrete manner and build public confidence so that residents and international visitors alike feel secure in every aspect of city life.
Mr. Nithee Seeprae, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, remarked that raising the safety standards of the city - particularly in key tourism areas - is a significant step in showcasing Thailand’s readiness to welcome global travelers. Districts like Ratchaprasong, Chidlom, Phloen Chit, and Sukhumvit Road align with city marketing strategies as a "Destination for All", offering a diverse array of attractions including shopping malls, luxury hotels, and revered cultural landmarks. Systematic safety management in these areas helps build trust from the very first step tourists take in the city, strengthening Thailand’s image as a premier global destination. This collaboration is not just about building inspections but about enhancing the visitor experience and supporting sustainable growth of Thailand’s tourism industry.
Pichai Chirathivat, Executive Director of Central Group, emphasized that the safety of all employees, partners, customers, and tourists is the company’s top priority. Central Group has conducted in-depth structural inspections of all its properties, led by external structural engineers and certified building inspectors licensed by the Council of Engineers in Thailand, following international engineering standards. The inspections cover five key areas: building structure, electrical and energy systems, water and pump systems, sewage and wastewater systems, and elevator and safety systems. The results confirm that all Central Group buildings—including centralwOrld, Central Pattana’s shopping centers and community malls, Central and Robinson department stores, Robinson Lifestyle centers, Central Embassy, and Centara hotels—are structurally sound and safe for public use in full compliance with engineering standards.
In addition to Central Group, various leading hotel and real estate partners in the Ratchaprasong, Chidlom, Phloen Chit, and Sukhumvit Road areas including Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Chatrium Grand Bangkok, Conrad Bangkok, DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, MOXY BANGKOK RATCHAPRASONG, The Okura Prestige Bangkok, Park Hyatt Bangkok, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, Sivatel Bangkok Hotel and The St. Regis Bangkok have also joined the campaign, committing to inspect buildings according to standards and to drive “Bangkok We are OK!” forward in a tangible way. This reflects the strength of the private sector standing alongside the public sector to build confidence among citizens, tourists, and investors alike. This partnership marks only “the beginning of a long-term effort” by the private sector to drive national progress through sustained confidence-building. Plans are already in place to expand this initiative to other economic zones, further supporting the country’s tourism and economic development in a sustainable way.
Central Group reaffirms its commitment to being a driving force in urban development and to its role as a private sector leader that actively supports public policy. We strongly believe that through collaboration across all sectors, Bangkok can truly become a city where everyone can confidently say: “Bangkok, We are OK!”
