Central Group partners with Bangkholaem District’s Department of Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red Cross Society, to open Community Isolation by Central Tham to take care of green COVID-19 cases who are Central Group employees, residents in Bangkholaem District, patients of Chulalongkorn Hospital, and Zendai Yannawa’s referred cases who have a positive ATK result confirmed by an RT-PCR test and are unable to do home isolation. The goal is to take care of these COVID-patients and have a proper system to take care of community cases so they can have access to fast treatment, thereby reducing the death rate and stopping the spread of the virus. The facility has a capacity of 300 beds.

Pichai Chirathivat, Executive Director of Central Group said that from the start of the spread of COVID-19 to today, the number of daily cases has decreased, but the situation is still worrying, and those who are infected need access to hospital beds and treatment quickly and effectively. To reduce the burden on the public health system in handling a large number of patients, and to alleviate the pressure on doctors and frontline medical workers, Central Group recognizes the seriousness of the situation and has initiated Community Isolation by Central Tham to take care of green cases. Most COVID-19 patients have no or mild symptoms, and taking care of them in isolation facilities can reduce the risk of these patients developing serious symptoms and spreading the virus to others. Community Isolation by Central Tham monitors its patients 24 hours a day and checks their vital signs and oxygen levels on a daily basis. The patients are taken care of by doctors, nurses and volunteers, and if their condition worsens, they will be referred to a hospital.

Community Isolation by Central Tham has been converted from an old factory in Rama 3. The 5-storey building covers an area of 6,681 sq m and has a system in place to offer health services with a capacity of 300 beds. The first floor is used for administrative work, monitor room, observation room, and teleclinic room, utilizing Chulalongkorn Hospital’s application technology in assessing the patients’ conditions to allow the patients and doctors to communicate in real time. The second to fifth floors are patient wards with 70-80 beds on each, separating male and female patients. Every day, Chulalongkorn Hospital doctors will offer consultation and treatment to the patients via teleclinic, and medication will be provided accordingly. There are also nurses and Central Group’s employee volunteers who have been trained by Chulalongkorn Hospital to facilitate the patients residing in this isolation center.

Food and nutrition for everyone in the facility is divided into two parts.

Part 1: The patients’ food will come from the Meal for You project done in partnership between Central Restaurants Group and King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, the Thai Red cross Society. Three freshly cooked meals will be provided every day from Aroi Dee, Pepper Lunch, Katsuya, Thai Terrace, and other brands under CRG through GrabExpress.

Part 2: The food for the staff and employee volunteers will come from the staff canteen’s food vendors, cooked fresh daily.

Patients who want to receive treatment at Community Isolation by Central Tham must meet the following criteria:

  1. Employees of Central Group or residents of Bangkholaem District
  2. Confirmed COVID-19 cases with a positive ATK result confirmed by an RT-PCR test.
  3. Asymptomatic cases or mild symptoms without lung infections and no need for oxygen tanks (green cases).

The general public in Bangkholaem District who test positive for COVID-19 and have a proof of positive ATK result confirmed by a RT-PCR result can contact the Bangkholaem District Office to receive treatment at the Community Isolation by Central Tham.

Central Group stands by people in Thailand by improving the public health system in a 360-degree approach to help Thai people lead normal lives during the spread of COVID-19 with full caution. We hope that our Community Isolation by Central Tham will serve as a connecting point that brings together assistance from all parties effectively, quickly, and extensively. We are ready to stand by Thai people and get through this crisis together.
