• Central Pattana offers over 17,500 square meters of leasable areas, which are worth 300 million baht, at eight Central shopping centers across the country as vaccination centers to benefit the whole country.
  • Central Pattana is applying the model used at Central Rayong and Central Samui which have hosted vaccination centers and is focusing on strict safety and health measures.
  • Central Lardprao has become the first shopping center in Bangkok selected by the authorities as vaccination center.  It has a capacity to service up to 2,000 individuals per day.  Vaccination registration for the general public will begin soon.

Bangkok – Central Pattana plc., operator of centralwOlrd, CentralPlaza, CentralFestival, Central Phuket, and Thailand’s first luxury outlet Central Village, today began the operation of a COVID-19 vaccination center at Central Lardprao, as part of its initiative to offer over 17,500 square meters of leasable areas, which are worth 300 million baht at eight Central shopping centers around the country as vaccination centers.

The vaccination center at Central Lardprao is a collaboration with Ramathibodi Hospital and Phramongkutklao Hospital. Central Ladprao is the first shopping center in Bangkok selected as one of the 14 vaccination centers by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Disease Control Committee under the BMA, and the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

The initiative to offer Central shopping centers as vaccination venues is in accordance with the roadmap created by the private sector’s vaccination and vaccine distribution team led by the Central Group, Central Pattana, Central Retail, and their partners including AIS and Centara.

The official opening of the first vaccination center at Central Lardprao today was presided over by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Aswin Kwanmuang.  The center has begun to administer vaccines to frontline staff and volunteers who have already registered.  In the next step, it will service the general public.  For more information, visit: https://www.facebook.com/CentralPlazaLardpraoFanpage/

Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Central Pattana plc., said, “Central shopping centers are the centers of life in whichever provinces they are situated in.  As we are very close to the local communities, we have been working with local authorities, provincial public health departments and hospitals in response to the pandemic.”

“We are offering the spaces at our shopping centers and services to help accelerate mass vaccination, providing spacious, clean and safe venues with 100% effectiveness in social distancing and crowd management.  In addition, we will provide computers and coordinate with volunteers to fully support the work of medical and public health personnel.  This operation is based on the model we used at Central Rayong and Central Samui, which had both been vaccination venues,” said Ms. Wallaya.

“We hope to become a positive force to help fight this pandemic as we join hands with all parties to accelerate mass vaccination and create the herd immunity in the Thai population as soon as possible.  The use of our shopping centers as vaccination centers with full support to medical personnel, frontline staff and volunteers is only the first step.  In the next phase, we will expand the initiative to the general public in order to help Thailand get back on its feet and move forward,” said Ms. Wallaya.

Central shopping centers have gained trust from local authorities and hospitals and are viewed as potential provincial vaccination centers due to their large areas and ongoing strict health and safety measures under the master plan ‘Central’s Hygiene & Safety’.  With systematic social distancing management, Central shopping centers are able to cater to large numbers of officials and the public.

As of now, eight Central shopping centers, namely centralwOlrd, Central Lardprao, Central EastVille, Central Pinklao, Central WestGate, Central Mahachai, Central Rayong and Central Lampang, with a total area of over 17,500 square meters, have been selected as vaccination centers.

At Central Lardprao, the first shopping center in Bangkok used as vaccination center, preparations have been made in the following areas:

  1. Spacious venue
The vaccination center will be in the Sky Hall on the third level, which has an area of 3,500 square meters, good air circulation and a disinfected ventilation system. With systematic social distancing management, the venue has a capacity to service up to 2,000 individuals per day.
  2. Staff and volunteers
About 60-100 staff members and volunteers, all of whom have been vaccinated, are ready to assist the vaccination.
  3. Transportation Hub
Which is convenient for commuters from BTS and MRT systems.
  4. Service time
The vaccination center will be in operation from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day, while other parts of the shopping center will be open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
  5. Proactive and strict health and safety measures
Under the master plan ‘Central’s Hygiene & Safety’, there will be five core measures to ensure public safety and confidence, which are 1) strict screening, 2) strict social distancing measures in all areas and crowd density control, 3) safety tracking measures, 4) deep cleaning with attention to all surface areas, and 5) touchless experience.  Furthermore, the shopping centers carry out a ‘Big Cleaning’ after closing each day and ‘Extra Deep Cleaning’ operations with highly-effective COVID-19 disinfectants certified by international institutions for the whole facilities in according to the master plan in order to ensure highest customer safety and confidence.

Central Pattana’s ‘Central’s Hygiene & Safety’ master plan is not only intended to be used for safety and cleanliness management in Central shopping centers but also to benefit the country as a whole as it is designed to be applicable to a wide array of other types of establishments outside Central as well.  Central has been quick in offering its venues and, in fact, already succeeded in operating Thailand’s first provincial vaccination center in a shopping center at Central Rayong on 21 April 2021.

Following the Rayong success, Central Samui became one of the four centers in the island to administer the second shots of the vaccine for Samui residents on 23-27 April, while Central Phuket has carried out a vaccination programme for employees and shop workers with a target to have 85% of them receiving the second injections by mid May 2021.
