Let’s Celebrate 2016: The Winter Ville” to welcome the festive season, introducing the first extravagant winter wonderland in Thailand.
Bangkok, November 26, 2015: Central Department Store, Central Embassy, and Central Credit Card jointly organize “Let’s Celebrate 2016: The Winter Ville” to welcome the festive season, introducing the first extravagant winter wonderland in Thailand.
Barom Bhicharnchitr, Managing Director of Central Embassy and Atis Ruchirawat, Managing Director of General Card Services Company Limited, “Central Department Store and Central Embassy, together with Central Credit Card, present this festival to reward our customers and thank them for their support throughout the year. We want to offer a unique experience. This is Thailand’s first winter wonderland, named ‘The Winter Ville’, which simulates Santa Claus Village in Finland, inside Central Embassy, the new landmark of Bangkok and the second home of Bangkokians. This follows our slogan ‘One Life, Infinite Possibilities’. The highlight of this festival is ‘The Christmas Lapland Fairground’, which is a 4-storey-high castle decorated with lights. We are also honored by eight Ambassadors to Thailand who have created Christmas ball painting creations to be displayed here. We also have ‘The Palace of Light’, where we use more than a million lights to decorate the sides of Ploenchit Road, from Wireless Road Intersection to Chidlom Intersection, which is about 400 meters long. As always, Central Chidlom will be decked out with beautiful lights. Another highlight this year is that Central Embassy has transformed The Garden on the 5th floor into ‘The Hopping Market’, bringing together the best eateries for our customers to come hang out and enjoy winter breeze amidst a beautiful view of Bangkok. They include Mashiseoyo Korean-style fried chicken, G.J. Lecker German-Japanese food, Doni Nacho, Beef & Shake premium burger and frozen custard, and more. Customers are invited to enjoy shopping with special promotions by Central Embassy and leading credit cards to offer happiness and joy as our present this Christmas and New Year.”
The event took place at G floor of Central Embassy, amidst joyous Christmas carols. Present at the event were Italian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr. Francesco Saverio Nisio, Qatari Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr.Jabor Ali H.A.Al-Dosari, United Kingdom Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr.Mark Kent, wife of Hungarian ambassador to Thailand Mrs. Krisztina Szabo, and celebrities such as Orawan Ingkhasit, Sumalin Hoontrakul, Thananya Thanakitamnuay, Jindapa Boonyakorn, Prapaphim Liptapanlop, Chanapa Triratanachat, and Pemika Jiranorraphat. Nidsinee Chirathivat, Co-President of Central Department Store, Barom Bhicharnchitr, Managing Director of Central Embassy, and Atis Ruchirawat, Managing Director of General Card Services Company Limited, main sponsor of the event, warmly welcomed the guests.
When the event began, emcee Pitta na Patalung welcomed everyone to enjoy Christmas carols by a children’s choir, followed by a fancy parade, joined by the “Snow Princess” Davika Hoorne. The ambassadors, executives, and sponsors then joined the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, bringing The Christmas Lapland Fairground to life, signifying the beginning of the festive season at The Winter Ville. The guests were then entertained by melodious Christmas songs from The Voice Thailand’s Kittinan Chinsamran and Manasanan “Anchee” Aksorntueng.
The Christmas Lapland Fairground was created by artist Chakkrit Anantakul, who has created many masterpieces in Thailand and overseas. He talked about his idea, “When I was young, I watched cartoons and animations and saw how inanimate things came to life. It was very exciting. Now that I am a creator, I thought about designing a castle that could come to life.
“It took me three months to design this castle based on the event’s main theme. I talked to the BUG Studio team about using lights to create a castle. They wanted me to do the design, and it was great fun for me. Christmas, for me, is all about imagination, so I designed a live castle. Some parts are monsters with balls rolling through their mouth. There are robot guards. The top of the castle is made of flowers, as the castle is guarded by the god of flower who gives beauty and happiness to everyone.”
“I would like to thank Central for giving me the freedom to think and design my work. I use lines and characters to create something that would bring a smile to everyone’s face. It’s a big challenge to turn my imagination into a 3D reality.” He continued, “One of the highlights of this fairground is the Marble Machine, which was created by BUG Studio. We’ve seen the small version of it, but this one if so big an impressive. It inspired be to create the monsters’ mouths and the robots’ cannons to have special sensors and motions. The machine takes the ball up and releases it, and the ball comes down and rolls around. It’s like an art and science experiment that I want everyone to see.”
