Central Group joins Chaipattana Foundation to launch healthy rice “Sap-Pan” brand supports organic agriculture

Central Group, led by Busaba Chirathivat, Executive Vice President – Corporate Communications, the management team from Tops, Montree Kanokpongsakorn, Nongluck Kunsrinawakul together with Anutra Wannaviroj, Project Director of the Research and Development Project on Highland Agriculture of the Chaipattana Foundation in Fang District, Chiang Mai Province launch a healthy rice “Phitsanulok 80” under the brand “SapPan which is granted by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Phitsanulok 80 rice is a strain of healthfood rice with a great taste and tenderness that is suitable for the health conscious and people who need to control sugar in their food such as diabetics and the obese It has an intermediate to low glycemic index (GI) of only 59.5. Central Group plans to buy all the rice grown by farmersgroups in the project network. The rice producers have been certified with the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) standard for a total of 15 tonnes, which is the entire production for 2018. The rice will be on sale at all six branches of Tops in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai province which is the first time that this rice is on sale at modern trade and If it receives a good feedback from the consumers, we plan to expand to other channels such as Tops Online and all branches of Tops in Bangkok

            From this trip, Central Group also visited and observed the operations of Chaipattana Foundation on organic plant production. Organic vegetables, such as Chinese kale, Red Oak lettuce, cabbage, asparagus, cloud ear fungus have been on sale at Tops in Chiang Mai since 2016
