Bringing local farms to the city “8th Our community products” Shop till you drop with selections of great local products at a low pricein
The intention of Central Tham is “creating jobs, creating career, creating communities and creating high quality of life for the society sustainably,” Central Group along with Ministry of Commerce are organizing an exhibition for high quality Thai products: “8th Our community products”. The exhibition is the gathering of more than 600 premium goods around Thailand in a Farms in Town ambiance. There will be three interesting sectors in this fair; the identity of Thai herbs, vegetables fruits and organic products, and creative goods. The exhibition will be held from June 13 to 18, 2019 at first floor, Central Court and Eden, Central World.
Pichai Chirativat Executive Director of Central Group addressed that the “Our community products” project initiated in 2012 for Central Group to help small community enterprises around Thailand on their products to grow into cooperatives, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and even exporting their goods. The project also focuses on strengthening local wisdoms to remain in their communities and advance into premium-grade products that meets the needs of the markets in order to raise the quality of life in the local communities.
As a result, Central Group and the Ministry of Commerce would like to invite all customers to help stimulate and support quality community products from around Thailand in this project, “8th Our community products”. Central Group has been participating in each process of every product from manufacturing, managing, marketing and selling. The group also supports on infrastructure development (e.g. food preservation plants, separating plants and warehouses) and knowledge providing. Participating communities were trained to learn essential business skills such as marketing, process development, packaging design, etc. This is to help expand the potentials of growing local products to be available for purchase in businesses in Central Group such as preserved foods, organic fruits and vegetables, beauty products, GIs be sold in Central Food Hall and Tops; decoratives and tools be sold in Thai Watsadu. Since the initiation, Central Group has helped over 700 communities, 10,800 families, 4,700 developed products which generated over 2,700 million baht for those participating communities.
In this year, the exhibition with the Farms in Town theme will have over 600 products in three sectors that will not be the same as previous years’. The Identity of Thai Herb sector will have a selection of premium-grade international standard herbal products available such as litsea-pea shampoo from Nam Kian community enterprise, Nan that will help those with hair loss problems; Cold pressed 100% coconut oil lip balm from coconut farmers in Surat Thani. The Vegetables Fruits and Organic Products sector will have nontoxic products available such as Thong Pha Phum organic durian, from the Thai Organic Learning Center, Kanchanaburi; sweet and unique Siam Ruby pomelo, a geographical indicating product that could be found only in Pak Panang, Nakhon Ratchasima; Pitsanulok 80 rice “Sup-Pan”, a special type of rice that carries low sugar index which is highly suitable for diabetes patients from Chiang Rai; the OTOP award winning Southern curry paste, a hot and spicy curry recipe from Tra Dee-Plee community enterprise, Trang; Red Brown and Germinated Brown Rice Porridge from Supanburi which uses fresh red brown rice, germinated to improve its quality in gaba that helps with nervous and brain systems and growth hormones; Good Goods Phu Chee Duan Coffee under Central Tham project which uses Arabica coffee beans from Thai-Mong farmers along the Thai-Laos boarder in Ban Rom Fah Luang, Chiang Rai. Creative goods will host premium-grade original Thai products such as water hyacinth wickerwork from the water hyacinth wickerwork group in Ban Khlong Kratoong, Nakhon Pathom; Na Muen Sri Woven, a traditional woven that has over 200 years of history by the Na Muen Sri Woven group, Na Yong, Trang; Ban Sob Sai Carpet, handmade versatile carpet from Prae.
Along with shopping community products, in the fair will have authentic delicious food for you to experience such as Tako (coconut pudding with water chestnut) by Mae Pim Jai, an OTOP awarded snack from Bang Nam Pueng Floating Market, Khung Bang Kachao community, Samut Prakarn and Kanom Babin (coconut pancake) and Thong Muan (coconut milk rolled chips) by Ram Pai Thai sweet, Mak Kaeng, Udon Thani.
The next local community goods fair will be held during August 15 and 20, 2019 at the Promotion Zone, first floor (glass elevator zone), Central Plaza Rama 3.
